After successfully launching the SM series of reference monitors at MusikMesse, Frankfurt and exhibiting at IBC in 2009, Sonodyne and The Audio Pros are proud to be a part of the IBC exhibition for the second year running.

Since we last attended the show, we have successfully appointed multiple distribution points in the EU and the Sonodyne SM100Ak has also received critical acclaim and awards both in recording and broadcast publications.

Sonodyne BMS205

For IBC 2010 we present the production version of our 2.1 / 5.1 bass management system, the Sonodyne BMS205. Originally shown at Frankfurt earlier this year, this DSP based 1U device provides excellent sound quality and user friendly features for any broadcast, post-production and recording facility.

We are also very excited to show, for the first time, the new compact and tactile aluminum remote control, the Sonodyne BMS205-R, which allows you to control master level and mute from your desktop.

All this for a price that will squeeze a smile from the toughest project manager, purchaser or accountant!

Although previewed at IBC 2009, this is the first showing of the final production SM200Ak which features a magnetically shielded 8" Kevlar cone woofer, and 1" metal dome tweeter, both powered by custom designed and built amplifiers, 150W and 100W respectively. With an overall frequency response of 40 Hz - 22 kHz, the SM200Ak also features gain control, bass & treble tilt, and bass roll-off (4 DIP switches each) for total control. A novel innovation is the aluminium die cast amplifier module for optimal heat dissipation and reliability.

The SLF210 remote controlled powered subwoofer features a continuously variable 40 - 120 Hz crossover frequency and a 10” driver, which is powered by a custom designed and built 150 watt amplifier. Used in conjunction with the SM series of reference monitors, the SLF210 offers low, precise and clear frequencies that will match systems at twice the cost.

The BMS205 features a 28/56 bit, 50 MIPS Audio DSP. It not only filters LF (at 3 crossover settings) from the main channels to the LFE channel, but also extracts an LFE signal from the L, R while keeping the L, R in either HP filtered or full range modes. Additionally, a summed mono output is available so that an external subwoofer crossover may be employed. A Master Level control and Mute are available, as well as Level trims (+/- 6 dB) and ‘Mute’ for all 6 channels individually. A slim 1 RU device, it fits neatly into your rack or sits smartly on your desktop.

Sonodyne SM100Ak Pick Up 2 Awards In 1 Review

FM Awards

(Jan 2010)

“I tried the SM100s with every style of music available to me and frankly I was stunned” and “The midrange is incredible” and “The bass response is also superb” and “Ultra highs are smooth and crisp and never get in the way of mids and bass” and “Getting the sound was straight forward, no dead spots, no moments of indecision” and “I have taken the unusual step of welding them to my speaker stands so the Audio Pros can’t get them back” were just a few of the comments by Stuart Bruce in his review of the Sonodyne SM100Ak’s in this month’s Future Music.

And it is because of this review that Future Music has awarded the Sonodyne SM100Ak’s their coveted “Platinum Award” AND “Value Award”.

Press Release Sep '09 - Sonodyne to show at IBC '09

Sonodyne 1

The brand name “Sonodyne” may be new to you, but their SM Series of studio reference speakers produce such a detailed and accurate sound, that you will feel that you have always known them. In fact this award winning Indian company have been designing and manufacturing pro audio equipment for over 30 years and literally thousands of SM Series monitors have already been sold into recording, broadcast and post-production studios throughout Asia. This success stems from the ability to deliver products that clearly understand and fulfil user’s requirements at a cost that suits most budgets. And now, we are pleased to announce that from September 2009, Sonodyne will be available in Europe.

Sonodyne have appointed UK based distributors “The Audio Professionals” as their strategic channel partners who will be responsible for Sonodyne studio products throughout Europe. Their first showing and official European launch will be at IBC in Amsterdam in September ‘09.

The Sonodyne SM Series range of reference monitors feature a 6mm thick monolithic aluminium die cast cabinets, Kevlar woofers in metal die cast chassis and 26mm dome tweeters. The LF and HF units are internally biamped and are and separated via active crossovers. Use of toroidal transformers, selection of low noise op amps, minimal signal wiring and careful PCB layout contribute to a high S/N ratio which creates a very low self generated noise level.  In fact the entire range were designed with the utmost attention to detail and feature high-grade components throughout.

“To evaluate the Sonodyne SM 100AK’s and the SM 50AK’s, we set up blind listening tests with some key engineers and producers in their own studios, with the material of their choice and up against their favourite near-field monitors.“ Explained Dave West of The Audio Professionals. “We made a real point of not telling them anything about the monitors; they literally just heard them straight out of the box. The resulting comments were consistent as virtually everyone commented on how detailed the monitors were, how smooth and easy they were to listen to and all expected the price to be at least a third above the actual RRP.”

The Sonodyne SM 100AK, SM 50AK and SLF 200A (Sub) will be available in September ’09 and the new SM 200AK, which will see its first showing at IBC, will follow during the autumn.
